Der Ex-Cop Akikazu (Kōji Yakusho) begibt sich auf die Suche nach seiner verschwundenen Tochter Kanako (Nana Komatsu), einem bei Freundinnen und Lehrern gleichsam beliebten Mädchen, das ihrem Vater immer als Musterschülerin erschien. Doch was er auf der Suche nach Kanako über seine Tochter herausfindet, erschreckt den selbst nicht gerade heiligen Akikazu zutiefst. Kanako führt ein Doppelleben und hat sich in einem Netz aus Sex, Drogen und Gewalt verstrickt. Die Erkenntnis, dass seine Tochter ein ebenso gewaltbereites und moralisch zerrüttetes Wesen ist wie er selbst, erschüttert Akikazu zutiefst und je mehr er über Kanako herausfindet, desto rasender wird er. Sein Wunsch, seine Familie zusammenzuführen, die er durch seine Alkoholsucht und seine Brutalität auseinandergetrieben hat, scheint nunmehr unerfüllbar.
